Stakeholders in Zaria Local Government Area have been urged to intensify efforts toward improving maternal, newborn, and child health in their communities.

The Ameerah of Almanar Women Association, AMWA, Hajiya Rabi Umar Sodangi, made the call during a stakeholders’ meetings for  Unguwar Fatika Wards held at Aminu Ladan  Sharehu LGEA Zaria.

Hajiya Rabi Umar Sodangi explained that the initiative is aimed at creating awareness on key health challenges affecting mothers and children, while promoting collective responsibility among families and community members.

Also speaking, the representative of the District Head of Zaria and Kewaye, Alhaji Ibrahim Sarki, urged participants to make effective use of the knowledge gained by sharing it with household heads.

He stressed the importance of proper family care, particularly encouraging men to support their wives in ensuring exclusive breastfeeding for up to two years for optimal child growth and development.

Alhaji Ibrahim Sarki also emphasized child spacing as a critical factor in improving the health and well-being of both mothers and children.

In their separate remarks, participants from  Unguwar Fatika wards expressed appreciation for the initiative and pledged their commitment to supporting the programme.

The meetings attracted community leaders, religious scholars, imams, women group leaders, and household heads, among others.
