The Ameerah of Almanar Women Association (AMWA), Hajiya Rabi Umar Sodangi, has called on stakeholders to intensify efforts toward improving maternal, newborn, and child health in their communities.
She made the call during a stakeholders’ meetings for Unguwar Juma Ward in Zaria Local Government Area, held at the District Head Office of Birni da Kewaye in Durumin Mai Garke, Zaria.
Hajiya Rabi Umar Hajiya Rabi Umar Sodangi explained that the initiative is designed to create awareness on key health challenges affecting mothers and children, while promoting collective responsibility among families and community members.
Also speaking, the Representative of the District Head of Zaria and Kewaye, Alhaji Ibrahim Sarki, urged participants to effectively utilize the knowledge gained by sharing it with household heads, particularly on the importance of proper care for their families.
He emphasized that men have a crucial role in supporting and encouraging their wives, especially in ensuring that mothers breastfeed their children for a period of two years to achieve optimal health and development.
The Wakilin Hakimi further highlighted the importance of child spacing as a vital measure in improving the well-being of both mothers and children.
