The projects are a 110KVA solar installation at Ahmadu Bello University Congo Campus, the Zaria Education Development Association International Conference Centre, a Modern Skills Acquisition Centre and an office complex for the National Directorate of Employment-NDE.
Dr Abbas Tajuddeen explained that the projects were aimed at ensuring reliable power supply for essential services, providing befitting venue for learning and public debate as well as creating opportunities for skills acquisition and job creation.
He noted that the interventions were deliberately taken to health centres, schools, security posts, mosques and churches where constant power is most needed.
According to him, youths from Zaria were trained to install and maintain solar facilities to ensure sustainability and build local capacity.
He pointed out that the Skills Acquisition Centre when completed will train young women and men to acquire skills that will enable them earn a decent living.
In a remark, the Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Professor Adamu Ahmed commended the Speaker for his various interventions in the University.
He disclosed that the University spends about three hundred million naira monthly on electricity bills, stressing that the solar intervention will reduce the cost by one-third.
In a message, Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, represented by the Wazirin Zazzau, Khadi Muhammad Inuwa Aminu described the Speaker as a proud son of Zazzau Emirate whose interventions benefit all Nigerians.
He therefore appealed to the National Assembly to support universities to generate their own electricity to serve their host communities.
