The Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, has been conferred with the Honorary Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) in recognition of his contributions to cultural heritage preservation, traditional architecture and sustainable urban development.
The prestigious honour was bestowed on the Emir during the Institute’s Fellows Investiture and Honours Ceremony held at Bolton White Hotel, Wuse, Abuja.
The Honorary Fellowship, designated as Hon. FNIA, is the Institute’s highest honour for distinguished Nigerians who are not architects but have made outstanding contributions to national development, the built environment and the advancement of the architectural profession.
The ceremony was presided over by the President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi, FNIA, and attracted prominent personalities from industry, academia and the diplomatic community.
Among those present to celebrate the Emir were former Vice President of Nigeria and former President of the NIA, Arc. Muhammadu Namadi Sambo, Sardaunan Zazzau, alongside district heads and titleholders of the Zazzau Emirate Council, as well as friends and associates of the Emir.
The Institute recognised the Emir’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage and traditional architecture, advocating sustainable urban renewal in Zaria, and promoting harmony between traditional values and modern development in the built environment.
The honour underscores the importance of traditional institutions in preserving architectural heritage, promoting sustainable urban development and contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s built environment.
