The Kaduna State Government has commenced the construction of alternative arterial road networks ahead of the commencement of works on the Kaduna Bus Rapid Transit (KBRT) project corridors.
The initiative, being implemented through the Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KADSTRA), is aimed at reducing anticipated traffic disruptions and ensuring seamless movement of commuters during construction.
The Overseeing Director General of KADSTRA, Engr. Inuwa Ibrahim, led a team of senior officials from the Project Management Unit on a comprehensive inspection of the alternative routes.
During the exercise, the team assessed ongoing construction activities and evaluated progress to ensure that the alternative networks are delivered in line with the state's mobility and transportation objectives.
The measures are expected to maintain uninterrupted vehicular and pedestrian movement for intra-state and inter-state commuters while minimizing the impact of construction activities on residents and businesses along the KBRT corridors.
The state government says the initiative reflects its commitment to sustainable urban transportation, evidence-based planning and commuter-centred governance.
It also underscores the administration's broader effort to integrate mass transit infrastructure with the socioeconomic needs of citizens while maintaining operational efficiency throughout the KBRT construction period.
