The committee was inaugurated at the EMDC Boardroom on the university's Main Campus in Samaru by the Director of the Centre, Dr. Abdussalam Isma'ila Galadima.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Galadima said the committee would drive energy conservation initiatives and promote the adoption of renewable energy technologies across the university.
He announced Engineer Hassan Abdallah as Chairman of the committee, describing him as a dedicated and experienced officer with the capacity to lead the initiative effectively.
The Director urged members of staff and the university community to cultivate the habit of switching off electrical appliances when they are not in use, noting that the practice would conserve energy, improve safety, and reduce operational costs.
Dr. Galadima also disclosed that the committee would organise training programmes on the fabrication of solar panels and other renewable energy components to encourage the use of clean and sustainable energy within the institution.
He expressed optimism that the initiative would significantly reduce the university's electricity expenditure while supporting environmentally sustainable energy solutions.
Responding on behalf of the committee, Chairman Engineer Hassan Abdallah expressed appreciation to the director for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to discharge his responsibilities with dedication and professionalism.
He called on members of the committee to work collectively to ensure the effective implementation of the university's energy compliance programme and the achievement of its energy conservation objectives.
