Stakeholders of All Progressive Congress, APC have unanimously affirmed Speaker Abbas Tajuddeen as the sole candidate of the party for Zaria federal constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Returning officer of the APC House of Representatives primary in election in Zaria, Hamisu-Ibrahim Kubau made the confirmation in Zaria on Saturday.
Kubau said 1376 party members across 13 wards of the federal constituency affirmed the Speaker as the party’s sole candidate for 2027 general election.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the election was observed by the INEC electoral officer in Zaria, Mrs. Balason Miga, the APC Primary election committee led by Senator Yakubu Shuaibu, key stakeholders and Security personnel.
The affirmation which was conducted peacefully was attended by the ward executives and returning officer in the 13 wards of the constituency.
The speaker was earlier affirmed by 250 members at his ward (Kwarbai B) in Zaria local government.
In his acceptance speech, Speaker Abbas described the development as historic and a testament to the trust and support of the people on his style of leadership.
He added the development has reminded him of the 2019 primaries where the delegates voted him without any inducement.
“Today’s affirmation shows that the people appreciate and value my representation and President Bola Tinubu’s quality of leadership,” he said
The speaker expressed his gratitude for the trust the people have placed in him in last past 16 years.
He reiterated his commitments to redouble his efforts in effective legislation and attracts people oriented projects that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
Tajuddeen said Zaria Federal Constituency had enjoyed massive infrastructural under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu urging the people to reciprocate by voting massively comes 2027 elections.(NAN)
