The mission, which took place in Kaduna, included meetings with key stakeholders and inspections of the proposed BRT corridor ahead of the planned groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for June 2026.
During a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Kaduna State Ministry of Works and Public Infrastructure, the Director General of KADSTRA, Engr. Inuwa Ibrahim, said the visit was aimed at reviewing achievements recorded on the KBRT project and identifying areas requiring additional support for successful implementation.
Speaking during the meeting, the Country Director of AFD, Jacky Amprou, explained that the agency remains committed to supporting the project through technical and financial assistance to ensure the successful delivery of the BRT system in Kaduna State.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Ashiru Abdu Na Abdu, expressed confidence in the success of the project, noting that Governor Uba Sani considers the initiative a landmark project capable of transforming urban transportation in the state.
Also speaking, the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Supervision Design Team Lead, Alok Jain, acknowledged existing challenges but expressed optimism that the groundbreaking ceremony would commence as scheduled.
The Project Management and Operational Design Team Lead, Teodoro S Regino, commended stakeholders for adopting innovative strategies to move the project forward.
The mission also featured technical review sessions involving supporting partners, including EPCS, PMOD and the Project Management Unit, as well as an inspection visit to the designated BRT corridor.
Kaduna State is the second state in Nigeria and the first in Northern Nigeria to introduce a Bus Rapid Transit system, a development expected to improve sustainable urban transportation in the region.
