Nuri-Tilawah International School, Zaria, under the leadership of Sheikh Dr. Nuraddeen Umar Tahir, has been hosting a Ramadan Iftar gathering as part of a programme supported under the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. The Iftar programme, which began on the 20th day of Ramadan, is bringing together members of the community, scholars and guests for collective prayers and reflection during the holy month.
The programme is implemented under the supervision of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Da’wah and Guidance, and is being held at Nurul Tilawah International School, Tukur-Tukur Layout, Zaria, Kaduna State.
Speaking during the Iftar held on the 24th day of Ramadan, the Director of the school, Sheikh Dr. Nuraddeen Umar Tahir, explained that the gathering was organised to strengthen unity among Muslims and encourage spiritual devotion during Ramadan.
He noted that Nuri-Tilawah International School is one of the institutions selected to host the Iftar programme in Nigeria, adding that the initiative has continued to receive strong participation from members of the public every year.
Sheikh Tahir commended the community for their consistent response to the invitation to the Iftar programme and encouraged Muslims to continue to support activities that promote unity, faith and community development.
He also urged Nigerians to continue praying for peace and stability in the country, particularly in view of the security challenges affecting various parts of Nigeria.
The Islamic scholar further called on participants to remember the Middle East region in their prayers, noting the ongoing conflicts and humanitarian concerns affecting the area.
He encouraged Muslims to intensify supplications, repentance (Istighfar), and other acts of worship during the last ten days of Ramadan, describing the period as a special time for seeking Allah’s mercy and blessings.
Sheikh Tahir also urged members of the public to participate actively in the democratic process by obtaining their voter cards and engaging responsibly in politics in order to elect credible leaders who will serve the nation with integrity.
Some guests who spoke during the gathering, including Dr. Khalil Ahmad of the Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, and Sani Isah Dutse of Queen FM, commended the school for organising the programme and described it as a commendable initiative that promotes religious awareness, unity and community development.
They noted that such gatherings provide an important platform for spiritual reflection and strengthen bonds among members of the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan.
