24 year old, Aliyu Rayyan, has completely lost hope in studies having stayed away from school after four years of completing secondary school education due to financial constraint.
Rayyan who lost his father about seven years back when he was in Jss 3 class said he could not afford to sponsor his education to tertiary level for lack of support.
Speaking to our Correspondant in Zaria, Rayyan, the Orphan said the scholarship grant awarded to him by the Minister of Environment, Lawal Balarabe Abbas rejuvenate his hope to fulfilling his educational dream.
He said since the demise of his father, life has not been so faithful to him as domestic burden dawn on him being the oldest son.
According to him, shouldering the responsibility of his aged mother and 6 siblings was enough burden to forfeit his academic ambition.
"Even after I managed to complete my secondary school, I could not afford to pay for my WAEC , therefore had to stay home for about two years.
"It was the same Minister's scholarship award that facilitated my WAEC examination where I got the required number of credits to qualify me for Business Administration course.
"And today, the Minister has also graciously paid for my JAMB which I am determined to score the required cut up mark to enable me fulfill my ambition of securing admission into tertiary institution.
"I must sincerely thank Minister Abbas for rescuing my life. Because since the time I lost my father, no one came to my aid, even his closest friends and relatives regarding my education.
"At a point I felt totally abandoned to make a choice, untill the Minister's scholarship grant boost my moral in the quest for my educational pursuit." He noted.
In his remarks, Hallilu Hassan, Coordinator of Minister Balarabe Abbas Renewed Hope Scholarship grant said 30 vulnerable students including Aliyu Rayyan will be sponsored throughout their tertiary education.
He said the Minister has assured them"once you get the required JAMB scores, you will be granted full scholarship to the completion of undergraduate programme.
Hassan noted that over 3,000 indigines of kaduna state have continue to benefit from SSCE and JAMB sponsorship annually by the Minister as part of effort to encourage learning.
