The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming Zaria into a major centre for learning, skills development, and economic growth. 

He made the remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Renewed Hope Legacy Projects held on Saturday at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria.

The Speaker explained that the two-day programme marks the beginning of a new phase of development for the people of Zaria, especially the youth, who will benefit from increased opportunities in education, skills acquisition, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

 He stressed that the projects reflect the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at ensuring that communities like Zaria are not left behind in the nation’s development.

Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen acknowledged the ongoing security challenges affecting the country, particularly the North, and commended the armed forces and President Tinubu for taking decisive action to stabilize communities. 

He noted that initiatives like these development projects are crucial to creating employment, reducing vulnerability to crime, and promoting peace.

The Speaker also announced the groundbreaking of major institutions including the College of Agriculture and Animal Science, a Technical and Vocational Training College, a Sports Academy, and a Centre for Management Development. 

"These institutions, will provide practical skills, promote food security, develop leadership, and prepare the youth for the workforce. Said"

The Speaker highlighted the Women’s Development Centre, emphasizing that empowered women strengthen families, communities, and the nation. 

"He also announced new male and female hostels at the Nigerian Institute of Leather Science and Technology (NILEST) alongside 250 fully funded scholarships for students pursuing leather technology programs, to encourage industrial and technical expertise."

"In addition, he revealed major road construction projects across the constituency, including vital links that will enhance agriculture, trade, and security operations."

 "He assured residents that these projects will be executed with high standards and completed on time to ensure maximum benefit to the community."

In his remarks, the Minister of Environment, Mal. Balarabe Abbas, Commended the Speaker for his dedication to education and constituency development. 

He highlighted the strong relationship between the Speaker, the Governor, and the President, describing it as a key driver of the rapid development projects in Zaria.

The Minister emphasized that Zaria’s legacy as the educational hub of Northern Nigeria aligns with the Speaker’s focus on establishing world-class institutions. 

He noted that with the standards of the new facilities, Zaria is being elevated into an international education centre capable of attracting talent from across Nigeria and beyond.

Abbas, called on community leaders, , and citizens of Kaduna State to continue supporting the Speaker’s initiatives, stressing that strategic investments in education, vocational training, and sports can transform Zaria into a hub of global competence and innovation.

Earlier in his Speech Engr. Jameelu Ahmad, Chairman of Zaria Local Government, noted that past projects like the Veterinary College, commissioned last year, have already reached 50 to 60 percent completion within six months.

 He Commended the Speaker’s consistent commitment to timely execution and high-quality standards.

Engr. Jamilu highlighted the new projects being launched in Zaria, including the College of Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Sports Academy, Federal Technical and Vocational Training College, Centre for Management Development, Women Development Centre, and male and female hostels at the Leather Technology Institute. 

He described the scale and scope of the initiatives as unprecedented.

The Chairman  also mentioned key road infrastructure projects, such as the Zaria–Pambeguwa–Plateau road and the Kofar gayan to Amana Turunku road, which will connect multiple local governments and improve economic activity.
