The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has flagged off and commissioned multiple development projects in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The projects include the reconstruction of the Soba–Pambeguwa road, construction of Kinkiba township road, a Youth Development Centre, a National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) study centre, blocks of classrooms and a Primary Healthcare Centre.

Speaking at the ceremony,  the Speaker said the projects form a productive corridor aimed at supporting agriculture, education and healthcare.

He described Soba as a major agricultural hub known for maize, millet, sorghum and livestock production, noting that agriculture remains the foundation of household income and food security in the area.

Speaker said the area will also benefit from an Agricultural Transformation Centre under the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme.

According to him, the Soba–Pambeguwa road will ease movement of farm produce to markets, reduce transport costs and improve access to schools and health facilities, while the Maigana road will enhance connectivity among local communities.

On youth development, the Speaker said the centre will provide practical training, digital skills, enterprise support and career guidance to prepare young people for emerging economic opportunities.

He said the NOUN centre will enable residents to pursue higher education without leaving their communities and will encourage research into post-harvest losses, livestock management and agribusiness.

He added that the new classrooms and the health centre will improve learning conditions and access to primary healthcare, particularly maternal care, immunization and disease prevention.

Speaker Abbas charged contractors to adhere to engineering standards and safety requirements, and urged health authorities to ensure adequate staffing and medical supplies.

He also called on residents to take ownership of the projects and protect public facilities.

The Speaker commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting infrastructure, education, healthcare and agricultural transformation across the country.

In his remarks, Governor Uba Sani
said the projects will improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities and enhance the quality of life of the people.

He thanked President Tinubu for extending federal infrastructure interventions to Kaduna State and commended Speaker Abbas for facilitating the projects.

UBA SANI said the collaboration between the federal government, the National Assembly and the state government is yielding meaningful development for the state.

The event was attended by former Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, APC stakeholders, youths traditional leaders and other dignitaries.
