There are public servants who occupy offices, and there are those who give meaning to the offices they occupy. Mallam Iliyasu Balarabe belongs to the latter.

Two years into his service as Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration) to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Mallam Iliyasu Balarabe has distinguished himself through commitment, sacrifice, loyalty, responsibility and a genuine concern for the wellbeing of others.

His stewardship has demonstrated that the true meeasure of public service is not the prominence of a title, but the difference a person makes in the lives of others.

Working within a demanding legislative environment, DCOS has carried out his responsibilities with diligence, discretion and a strong sense of duty, contributing to the effective administration and coordination of the Office of the Speaker.

But his contribution goes beyond his official responsibilities. His two-year journey has also been marked by a remarkable commitment to humanitarian service and personal generosity.

DCOS has sponsored a number of people to undertake Lesser Hajj (Umrah), helping individuals fulfil a deeply cherished spiritual aspiration that might otherwise have remained beyond their reach.

For those beneficiaries, such gestures represent not simply financial assistance, but an opportunity to fulfil a sacred desire and experience a journey of profound spiritual significance.

Balarabe's generosity has also extended to various associations and community organisations, where he has provided support for activities and initiatives that promote unity, welfare and collective development.

He has continued to show concern for orphans, vulnerable persons and the less privileged, offering assistance to people who often have limited access to opportunities and support.

His contributions to places of worship further reflect his appreciation of the role faith-based institutions play in nurturing communities, promoting moral values and providing support and guidance to society.

What makes these gestures particularly meaningful is that much of his humanitarian intervention is undertaken without seeking publicity. There are people whose burdens have been eased, aspirations supported and spiritual journeys made possible, even when such acts never become public knowledge.

This reflects a simple but powerful understanding of leadership: that influence carries responsibility, and that the greatest value of an opportunity to serve lies in using it to make life better for others.

Over the past two years, Mallam Iliyasu Balarabe has therefore combined the demands of public office with a personal commitment to humanity.

His story is one of institutional responsibility, personal sacrifice and compassion — a reminder that leadership is not only about what happens within an office, but also about what happens in the lives of people beyond it.

As he marks this important milestone, the celebration is not merely about two years spent in a position. It is about the responsibilities shouldered, the people supported, the opportunities created and the lives touched along the way.

Positions may be temporary and appointments may change, but the positive impact made on people's lives remains a lasting testimony.

Two years of effective service, sacrifice, commitment, compassion and two years of great impact.

Congratulations to Mallam Iliyasu Balarabe on two years of purposeful and impactful stewardship, with prayers for greater accomplishments and many more opportunities to serve humanity.
