FORMER KADUNA ASSEMBLY LAWMAKERS TO BEGIN ENLIGHTENMENT CAMPAIGN ACROSS ZONE ONE
Ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general elections, the Forum of Former Kaduna State House of Assembly Members in Zone One, under the All Progressives Congress, APC, says it will embark on an enlightenment campaign across the eight local government areas of the zone.
The Chairman of the Forum, Hon Ali Ahmad Manchester, disclosed this during a press briefing with journalists at the Forum’s office along Sokoto Road, Kano Junction, Sabon Gari, Zaria. Our reporter, Mikail Ibrahim Fagachi, was among the journalists who attended the briefing.
Hon Ali Ahmad Manchester, a former member representing Basawa Constituency and former Sole Administrator of the defunct Samaru Area Development Authority, said the forum was initiated following encouragement from Senator Suleman Usman Hunkuyi, with the support of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Abbas Tajuddeen Iyan Zazzau.
He explained that one of the major objectives of the forum is to unite former lawmakers, share experiences and use their knowledge to enlighten the people on what he described as the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and Speaker Abbas Tajuddeen. He added that the forum would also engage APC members in reconciliation efforts where necessary to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Responding to questions from journalists on the achievements of the Speaker, Alhaji Ali Ahmad Manchester said Dr Abbas Tajuddeen had contributed to the social and economic wellbeing of people beyond his constituency, particularly across Zone One. He cited projects and interventions including the Kofar Doka and Agwaro flyovers, palliatives and empowerment programmes, expansion of the aviation college towards commercial flights, Education City and the establishment of the Federal University of Education and Federal College of Education in Zaria.
The former lawmaker also mentioned the renovation and reconstruction of the old Sabon Gari Stadium, as well as the appointment of people from the zone into various high-ranking positions in federal agencies. On Governor Uba Sani, he acknowledged the challenges confronting the administration, particularly inherited debts, but said the governor had implemented various development projects, especially in rural areas, while reducing tertiary institution fees and introducing empowerment programmes.
Alhaji Ali Ahmad Manchester therefore called on the people of Zone One, particularly APC supporters, to remain patient and continue supporting the APC administration from the grassroots to the federal level, saying the forum would use its experience to promote unity, reconciliation and public enlightenment towards achieving the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.
