HEADLINE: Zazzau Emirate Assures KADCHMA of Total Support for Improved Healthcare Delivery
The Zazzau Emirate has assured the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA) of its total support and cooperation towards the actualisation of the Kaduna State Government’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery across the state.
The Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Mallam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, stated this during a Strategic Engagement Meeting with the thirty-one District Heads and principal officers of the Zazzau Emirate, held in collaboration with KADCHMA and other development partners.
The Zazzau Emir described healthcare as one of the most important necessities of human life, noting that KADCHMA has, on several occasions, visited the Emir’s Palace to sensitise the people on the benefits of the contributory health scheme.
He therefore directed all the District Heads and other wealthy individuals within the Emirate to support the programme and encourage more people to enrol, with a view to reducing the constant out-of-pocket expenditure on medical treatment.
Ambassador Bamalli explained that individuals and families often spend substantial amounts of money every month on healthcare, stressing that the establishment of KADCHMA provides a strategic and more affordable way of accessing healthcare services through yearly contributions.
The Emir further demonstrated his commitment by enrolling about one hundred beneficiaries from among the Emirate staff, while KADCHMA provided one thousand free enrolment slots for people across the thirty-one districts of the Zazzau Emirate.
Earlier, the Director-General of KADCHMA, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan Dujiman Jama’a, commended the Emir of Zazzau for his support towards the success of the scheme, describing his contribution as invaluable.
Alhaji Abubakar Hassan said the doors of the Emir of Zazzau had always remained open to KADCHMA, adding that such cooperation would greatly assist the Authority in reaching more people at the grassroots.
He explained that KADCHMA is a contributory healthcare programme designed to mobilise funds for the payment of healthcare services for residents of Kaduna State. He added that Governor Uba Sani has consistently demonstrated his commitment to improving healthcare delivery, while the scheme covers healthcare services provided to beneficiaries at their selected healthcare facilities.
In their separate remarks, representatives of the development partners who attended the meeting shared their experiences and contributions in areas including immunisation, family healthcare and other health-related interventions.
One of the development partners, Alhaji Garba Shehu, told our reporter that his team would work closely with the Zazzau Emirate to achieve the objectives of the programme and ensure that the sensitisation reaches communities across the Emirate.
The meeting also witnessed the inauguration of the Zazzau Emirate Health Committee by the Emir, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, with a charge to ensure speedy action and effective coordination of health-related activities within the Emirate.
The engagement ended with a visit by KADCHMA officials to Sabon Garin Market, where a new KADCHMA office was opened to facilitate further sensitisation and enrolment of residents into the scheme.
Our reporter, Mikail Ibrahim Fagachi, reports.
