The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, has appealed to the Kaduna State Government to extend the tenure of the institution’s Rector, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi.
In a statement signed by the SUG President, Comrade Fatima Aliyu (Teemarh), the students said the Rector had demonstrated kindness, commitment, patience and dedication to the development of the institution.
The students’ body said the Rector had maintained a cordial relationship with students, lecturers, non-teaching staff and the management, creating an environment where concerns could be communicated and addressed.
According to the statement, students had also benefited from the Rector’s accessibility and willingness to listen to their concerns, describing such qualities as important attributes of effective leadership.
The SUG therefore appealed to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State and other relevant authorities to consider the Rector’s contributions and allow him to continue serving the institution.
The students said they believed the Rector deserved not only a one-year extension but more time to consolidate the progress recorded under his administration and achieve further development for the Polytechnic.
They maintained that continuity would promote stability, improve academic standards, strengthen staff-student relations and support further development of the institution.
The SUG urged the authorities to be guided by merit, performance, peace and the overall interest of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in making a decision on the Rector’s tenure.
The students’ union further expressed appreciation to the Rector for what it described as his kindness, humility, accessibility and friendly relationship with students and staff.
The SUG concluded by stressing that the Rector deserved another opportunity to serve, while the institution deserved continuity and students deserved leadership that listens to their concerns.
