ZARIA RESIDENTS APPEAL TO KADUNA STATE GOVERNMENT TO FAST-TRACK COMPLETION OF KOFAR DOKA AND AGWARO FLYOVER BRIDGES by Mikail Ibrahim Fagachi.
Residents of Zaria in Kaduna State have appealed to the Kaduna State Government to expedite the completion of the ongoing Kofar Doka and Agwaro flyover bridge projects, describing them as critical infrastructure that will ease traffic congestion and revive economic activities in the ancient city.
The appeal was made during separate interviews with our correspondent, Mikail Ibrahim Fagachi, in Zaria. The residents acknowledged the government's commitment to improving road infrastructure but expressed concern over the prolonged delay in completing the projects.
A resident living close to the Kofar Doka project site, Mallam Auwal, commended the Kaduna State Government for initiating the construction of the flyover bridges. However, he lamented that the projects have remained uncompleted for over four to five years. He also alleged that some aspects of the construction work appear to be of poor quality and appealed to the government to ensure proper supervision for a durable and standard project.
Another resident, Malam Falalu Altum, said the prolonged construction has seriously affected commercial activities in the Kofar Doka and Agwaro axis, which serves as one of the busiest business centres in Zaria. According to him, many shop owners and petty traders have been forced to relocate their businesses due to the difficult conditions, especially during the current rainy season when movement becomes more challenging.
Speaking on behalf of residents, Malam Falalu urged the Kaduna State Government to give priority to the completion of the projects, stressing that restoring the roads would boost economic activities, improve transportation, and reduce the hardship being experienced by motorists, traders, and commuters.
Responding to the concerns, the contractor handling the projects, Mr. Fumin of GRB Construction Company, assured residents that work is actively ongoing at both project sites. He said the company has deployed the necessary construction equipment and machinery and remains committed to delivering the projects as soon as possible.
Mr. Fumin appealed to residents to continue cooperating with the construction team by exercising patience and observing safety measures around the project areas. He assured the public that work would continue uninterrupted until the flyover bridges are completed and ready for use.
