The programme was held at Markazul Ummahat Littahafizul Qur'an Watarbiyyatil Islamiya, Nagoyi, Tudun Wada Ward, Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Speaking during the programme, Metron Aisha Ahmad delivered a lecture on birth preparedness, urging expectant mothers to adequately plan for childbirth and possible emergencies.
She explained that birth preparedness includes identifying a skilled birth attendant, choosing a health facility, arranging transportation, and making necessary financial and other preparations before labour.
Metron Aisha Ahmad also advised pregnant women to attend antenatal care regularly and seek immediate medical attention whenever they notice danger signs during pregnancy.
She stressed the importance of husbands and other family members supporting women to make timely decisions and access appropriate healthcare services.
Some participants said the programme provided them with new knowledge and helped to correct some of their previous beliefs and misconceptions about maternal and child health services.
They pledged to share the knowledge gained with their husbands, mothers-in-law, relatives and friends to encourage greater use of antenatal care and other essential health services.
The participants also appreciated the use of Islamic teachings and Qur'anic references during the sessions, saying these helped them understand and accept the health messages more easily.
They called for sustained community sensitisation to ensure that more women and families have access to accurate information on safe motherhood and child health.
The programme was organised by AMWA Faith and Cultural Champions as part of efforts to improve awareness among women and promote safe motherhood practices in the community.
