The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the North-West Zone, DIG Sulaiman Muhammad Abdul, has paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between security agencies and traditional institutions in addressing insecurity across the region.
The visit also served as an opportunity to convey the condolences of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to the people of Kaduna State over the loss of lives resulting from terrorist attacks in parts of the state.
Speaking during the visit, DIG Sulaiman Muhammad Abdul said he was directed by the Inspector-General of Police to extend heartfelt condolences to the Emir, the government, and the people of Kaduna State over the recent security challenges that claimed innocent lives.
He explained that the delegation also came to seek the Emir's blessings and continued support for the police in the discharge of their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property.
According to the DIG, the police leadership had earlier held a stakeholders' meeting with relevant authorities and community representatives to explore practical solutions aimed at tackling terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality affecting the North-West.
He emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and appealed to citizens to demonstrate patriotism by cooperating with security agencies through the timely provision of credible intelligence and support.
DIG Sulaiman Muhammad Abdul assured residents that the Nigeria Police Force remains fully committed to maintaining law and order, safeguarding innocent civilians, and ensuring that criminal elements are brought to justice.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Muhammad Rabiu, said the visit was in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to strengthen collaboration between the police and traditional institutions.
He noted that the engagement was aimed at promoting dialogue, exchanging ideas, and identifying practical measures that would enhance security and ensure lasting peace across Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.
CP Muhammad Rabiu appreciated the Emir of Zazzau for his consistent support and cooperation with the police, describing the traditional institution as a critical partner in maintaining peace and security within the state.
Responding, the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, expressed appreciation to DIG Sulaiman Muhammad Abdul and his delegation for the condolence visit and their commitment to improving security in the region.
The Emir commended the efforts and sacrifices of security personnel, noting that the successes recorded in the fight against criminality were a testament to their dedication and professionalism.
He, however, expressed concern over the continued activities of terrorists and other criminal elements in some district areas of Kaduna State, stressing the need for sustained efforts to eliminate the threat.
The Emir assured the delegation that the Zazzau Emirate would continue to work closely with security agencies by supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening peace, security, and community policing.
He also prayed for the restoration of lasting peace in Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and other states affected by insecurity, expressing optimism that stronger collaboration among government, security agencies, traditional rulers, and the public would significantly improve the security situation across the country.
