The Works and Infrastructure Department of Zaria Local Government has honoured nine outstanding staff members for their exceptional dedication, professionalism, and commitment to duty, while also organizing a farewell ceremony for four officers recently transferred to other local government councils within Kaduna State.
The event, held at the Zaria Local Government Secretariat, brought together management staff, labour union leaders, and well-wishers to celebrate excellence in public service and recognize the invaluable contributions of the award recipients.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director of Administration and Finance, Kaduna North Local Government, Muhammad Dahiru Usman, commended the Works and Infrastructure Department for initiating what he described as a commendable and motivating programme.
He said recognizing hardworking employees encourages greater productivity, dedication, and efficiency in the public service. He also praised the Kaduna State Government for its continuous commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants through policies aimed at enhancing professionalism and service delivery.
According to him, rewarding excellence remains one of the best ways of inspiring workers to remain committed to their responsibilities while promoting healthy competition among public servants.
Also speaking, the Director of Administration and Finance, Zaria Local Government, Hajiya Amina Abubakar Aliyu, congratulated the award recipients for distinguishing themselves through diligence and outstanding performance.
She commended the Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad, for ensuring the prompt payment of workers' salaries, describing the gesture as a major source of motivation for employees.
Hajiya Amina urged the award recipients to sustain their dedication and professionalism while encouraging other members of staff to emulate their commitment to duty.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Zaria Local Government Branch, Isma'il Umar, described the recognition ceremony as timely and significant.
He applauded the Works and Infrastructure Department for organizing the event, noting that honouring dedicated workers promotes excellence and boosts staff morale.
The NULGE Chairman also commended the Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad, for creating an enabling environment for workers to perform effectively and for prioritizing staff welfare.
He congratulated the nine award recipients on their well-deserved recognition and wished the four transferred officers success in their new places of assignment.
Isma'il Umar further urged all staff of the local government to remain committed, disciplined, and diligent in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing that dedication and integrity remain the hallmarks of a successful public servant.
