The Member representing Giwa West Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Auwal Bajimi, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, urging citizens to remain committed to the principles of democracy, peace, unity, and good governance.

In a Democracy Day message made available to journalists, Hon. Bajimi described June 12 as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey and a reminder of the sacrifices made by patriotic citizens in the struggle for democratic rule.

He commended the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for his commitment to inclusive governance, infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people across the state.

The lawmaker also applauded the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and members of the Assembly for their dedication to legislative duties and their efforts in promoting laws and policies that support development, transparency, and accountability.

Hon. Bajimi further acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, youth groups, women organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders in Giwa Local Government Area for their continued support toward maintaining peace and promoting democratic values within their communities.

According to him, democracy thrives when citizens actively participate in governance, respect the rule of law, and work collectively for the progress of society.

He called on residents of Giwa West Constituency and Kaduna State at large to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at enhancing security, economic growth, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

The lawmaker emphasized that Democracy Day should serve as an opportunity for reflection on the nation's achievements and challenges, while renewing the collective commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous, and united Nigeria.

Hon. Bajimi prayed for sustained peace, stability, and progress in Kaduna State and the country as a whole, expressing optimism that through unity and responsible leadership, Nigeria would continue to advance on the path of democratic development.

"Together, we can build a peaceful, united, and prosperous society where the dividends of democracy are enjoyed by all," he stated.

The Democracy Day celebration is observed annually on June 12 to commemorate Nigeria's democratic journey and honor the heroes who contributed to the country's return to democratic governance.
