The Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, chaired by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Amb. Baba Ahmad Jidda (OFR), has approved the promotion of forty-three (43) lecturers to the rank of Professor and fifteen (15) lecturers to the rank of Reader.
The approval was conveyed at the council's 2026 First Quarter Meeting held on 13th April, 2026, at the Senate building of the university in Zaria.
In a statement issued and signed by Sani Lawal Maqarphy, Media Aide to the Vice Chancellor of the university said the first set of the promoted Professors were listed as follows:

2. Dr. Onwunali Martins Royal O. – Professor of Crop Protection
3. Dr. Maikano Amos – Professor of Animal Science
4. Dr. Mahmud Abdurrahman Alhaji – Professor of Science Education
5. Dr. (Mrs.) Sani Amina – Professor of Entrepreneurship
6. Dr. Tunde Joel Adeshina – Professor of Business Education

8. Dr. (Mrs.) Onyewuotu Georgina Nwamara – Reader on Guidance and Counselling

In his remarks shortly after the meeting,
The Council chairman, Amb Baba Ahmad Jidda while congratulating the newly promoted lecturers, urged them to continue with their hardwork, dedication and good services to the University and humanity in general.
In a separate remark of appreciation, Prof Yahaya Isa Bunkure, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Education, Zaria said the exercise will continue by October, this year.
Bunkure assured that more Professors would be confirmed as the process will continue in the next coming years.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the promoted Professors and urged them to reciprocate the confidence by doubling their performance.
