He stated this during a community sensitization meeting on the contributions of men towards supporting girl-child education, organized by the Centre for Girl Education in Zaria.
The Emir, who was represented by the Wazirin Zazzau, Khadi Muhammad Inuwa Aminu, enjoined the community, especially fathers, to remain committed to ensuring that girls acquire education under any circumstances for societal development.
He commended the Centre for Girls Education for its efforts in supporting girl-child education in Kaduna State and other parts of the country.
In her remarks, the Deputy Director in charge of Government Schools at the Kaduna State Ministry of Education, Hajiya Aishatu Mohammed, called on fathers to give more support to ensure that their daughters and married women acquire education for their own benefit and that of the society.
She also commended the Centre for its contribution and collaboration with the Kaduna State Ministry of Education, noting that the benefit of girl-child education is not limited to the girl alone, as families and the entire society benefit.
Earlier in her address, the Director of the Centre for Girls Education, Hajiya Habiba Muhammad, said the meeting was not only organized to celebrate men who support girl-child education, but to reaffirm the important role they play in bringing about change within families and the society.
She advised participants to use the opportunity to remove obstacles that prevent girls from going to school and continuing their education.
According to her, men need to speak out to sensitize the community and use their positions to ensure that all barriers preventing girls from acquiring education are removed.
Some of the participants spoke on what they learnt and the impact of the meeting.
The Sensitazation was attended by traditional rulers, teachers and other stakeholders in the education sector.
The theme of this year’s meeting “The Men Who Show Up”.
