The Ag. Principal of School of Health Information Management, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, Dr. Zaharadeen Adamu, has said that the oath-taking and induction ceremony is aimed at formally ushering graduates into the health information management profession and preparing them for the ethical responsibilities ahead.
Dr. Adamu stated this on Wednesday during the 2nd oath-taking and induction ceremony of registered Health Information Management Technicians and Technologists held at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He said the ceremony was designed to instill discipline, professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility among the inductees as they begin their careers.
He congratulated the 267 graduating students and urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the institution, stressing the need for integrity, dedication and continuous learning in the discharge of their duties.
The Head of School also explained that obtaining a professional licence requires rigorous training, successful completion of examinations and meeting the standards set by the regulatory body.
In his remarks, Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim, who represented the Chief Medical Director of ABUTH, Prof. Ahmed Hamidu Umdagas, commended the institution for producing competent professionals in the health sector.
He urged the newly inducted graduates to uphold professional ethics and contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery, particularly in the area of data management and proper documentation.
Also speaking, the Medical Superintendent of Tudun Wada, who was represented by Dr. (Mrs) Ibrahim J., highlighted the importance of health information management in strengthening the healthcare system.
She called on the inductees to remain committed, embrace modern technology and uphold best practices in their profession.
A total of 267 students were inducted during the ceremony, marking their official entry into the health information management profession.
