Almanar Women Association FCC has organised a marriage counselling sensitisation workshop for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) as part of efforts to promote healthy and stable marriages within the community.
The sensitisation programme featured a lecture delivered by Ustazah Fatima Jibril Salisu, who educated participants on the purpose of marriage, emphasising shared values, clear expectations, and mutual understanding between spouses as foundations for marital success.
Ustazah Fatima highlighted the importance of effective communication in marriage, explaining that open, respectful dialogue enables couples to resolve conflicts constructively and strengthens emotional bonds.
She also stressed the need for emotional maturity, urging young women to develop self-confidence, emotional intelligence, patience, and tolerance.
According to her, understanding responsibilities and clearly defined roles within marriage plays a crucial role in reducing conflicts and preventing avoidable marital breakdowns.
Also speaking, the Ameerah of Almanar Women Association, Hajiya Rabi Sodangi, explained that the initiative forms part of the association’s commitment to empowering young women, strengthening family institutions, and reducing the rate of marital conflicts and divorce in society.
She urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to improve their mutual relationships.
In his remarks, a teacher at Annur Islamiya School, Magiya, Malam Abdussalam Musa Commended the association for the initiative, describing the sensitisation lecture as timely and impactful in helping spouses understand one another better.
He pledged to enlighten men on the importance and benefits of marriage.
Some of the participants expressed appreciation to the organisers, assuring that they would utilise the knowledge acquired to improve their marriages and future relationships.
