The National Chairman of Pathway to Purpose Women and Youths Development Initiative, Alhaji Ibrahim Halliru Dangaladima, has embarked on a series of community outreach visits across Zaria, targeting traditional institutions, social welfare centres, security agencies and health facilities as part of the organisation’s commitment to peacebuilding and sustainable development.
The outreach programme commenced with a courtesy visit to the palace of the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, where the leadership of the organisation presented an award of recognition to the monarch in appreciation of his outstanding contributions to community development and the promotion of peace within the Zazzau Emirate and beyond.
Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Dangaladima explained that the Emir was selected for the honour based on his consistent role in fostering unity, dialogue and inclusive leadership among diverse communities, noting that traditional institutions remain critical partners in promoting harmony and development.
He said Pathway to Purpose Women and Youths Development Initiative is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to empowering communities through education and social development programmes. According to him, the organisation’s focus areas include educational empowerment, women and youth development, environmental sustainability, support for vulnerable groups, advocacy against drug abuse and insecurity, as well as health and social welfare interventions.
He added that the organisation is driven by the belief that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective responsibility involving government, traditional institutions and civil society organisations.
As part of the outreach, Alhaji Dangaladima led members of the organisation to an orphanage home in Zaria, where they interacted with the children and management of the facility. He said the visit was aimed at assessing the welfare of the children, encouraging them and providing material and moral support to improve their living conditions.
The National Chairman stressed that caring for orphans and vulnerable children is a shared responsibility of society, calling on other non-governmental organisations, philanthropists and well-meaning individuals to provide sustained support to orphanage homes in order to secure the future of the children and protect them from social vices.
On the third day of the visit, the delegation visited the Zaria Correctional Centre, where Alhaji Dangaladima met with the management and interacted with some inmates. He commended the leadership of the centre for their efforts in rehabilitating and reforming inmates, describing correctional services as vital to social stability and national development.
He urged stakeholders to support correctional centres through training, counselling and empowerment programmes to facilitate the reintegration of inmates into society upon their release, warning that neglecting such institutions could aggravate insecurity.
The Pathway to Purpose delegation also visited the Zaria Zonal Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), where Alhaji Dangaladima held discussions with the Zonal Commander and senior officers. He praised the agency for its sustained efforts in combating drug abuse and trafficking, particularly among youths.
Alhaji Dangaladima reaffirmed the organisation’s readiness to collaborate with NDLEA on awareness campaigns and community-based programmes aimed at preventing drug abuse and promoting healthy lifestyles among young people.
The series of visits concluded at Hajiya Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar Gayan Zaria, where the delegation visited patients in some wards and offered support. Alhaji Dangaladima said the hospital visit reflected the organisation’s commitment to supporting healthcare delivery and easing the burden on patients, especially those from low-income backgrounds.
He commended healthcare workers at the hospital for their dedication and resilience in providing services under challenging conditions and called for continued investment in the health sector to improve service delivery.
Observers described the outreach as timely and impactful, noting that it reflects the organisation’s holistic approach to development by engaging traditional institutions, social welfare centres, security agencies and health facilities.
Pathway to Purpose Women and Youths Development Initiative reaffirmed its resolve to continue implementing programmes that promote unity, compassion and sustainable development across communities in Zaria and beyond.
