Residents of Tudun Wadan Mangi community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State have appealed to both the state and local governments to come to their aid by constructing a motorable road that links over ten neighbouring villages from Audi to their area.
The residents made the appeal while speaking with journalists in Zaria.
Tudun Wadan Mangi, a predominantly farming and herding community located close to Zaria Local Government, is known for the cultivation of vegetables such as onions, cabbage, carrots, and pepper.
Despite their agricultural productivity, the people lamented the poor state of the only access road, which makes it difficult for them to transport their farm produce to markets.
The village head of the community, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar, appealed to the Kaduna State Government and the Igabi Local Government Council to construct the road from Audi to Tudun Wadan Mangi linking the main Kaduna highway.
He said the deplorable condition of the road has brought untold hardship to residents, especially during emergencies such as when women in labour need to be taken to hospital.
Also speaking, Alhaji Jumare Dahiru noted that successive administrations had promised to construct the road, but nothing has been done so far.
He lamented the poor road network has slowed down economic growth in the area and urged the government to come to their rescue.
Some youths of the area, including Muhammad Tukur and Yakubu Aliyu, who were seen participating in a community self-help effort, also appealed for the provision of basic social amenities such as roads, health centres, and schools.
Compass times gathered that, apart from the poor road network, residents of Tudun Wadan Mangi are also faced with a lack of healthcare facilities and standard schools.
