Speaker says Kaduna Zone One has never had it so good, urges voters to re-elect Tinubu in 2027 to sustain momentum
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, has revealed that Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State played a decisive role in his emergence as Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Abbas said the over 80 federal intervention projects currently ongoing across the seven local government areas of Kaduna Zone One were not solely his idea, but were co-designed with Governor Uba Sani to reflect the real needs of the people.
The Speaker made the disclosure on Friday in Makarfi Local Government Area, during the commissioning and flag-off of a new batch of projects.
The projects include male and female hostels at the Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences and Technology, Makarfi, a block of 10 classrooms with offices and toilets, a 20-bed Primary Healthcare Centre, a utility vehicle for Government Commercial College, Makarfi, and the Makarfi Eastern Bypass Road.
Speaking at the event, Abbas said the projects were conceived as an integrated development package, linking education, healthcare, commerce and road infrastructure.
“A healthy child can attend school. A trained student can find work. And a good road can carry that worker to opportunities,” he said.
He explained that the hostels were critical after the College of Health admitted over 1,000 students in the 2024/2025 academic sessions, adding that lack of secure accommodation, especially for female students, often truncates education.
He noted that the 20-bed PHC will bring quality healthcare closer to pregnant women, children and the elderly, while the Eastern Bypass will connect farms to markets, reduce travel time and stimulate economic activities.
According to the Speaker, the interventions align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which has expanded access to student loans, revitalized primary healthcare centres and boosted revenues to all tiers of government through reforms.
Abbas commended Governor Uba Sani’s Project 255 initiative, which ensures that every ward in Kaduna State gets at least one meaningful project, describing it as a model of inclusive governance.
Paying glowing tribute to the Governor, Abbas said:
“My emergence as Speaker was not incidental. Many people supported and encouraged me. If I am to mention two people in the entire country who supported my aspiration the most, Governor Uba Sani is number one. He is responsible to a large extent for who I am today.
“The over 80 projects we are executing in Zone One did not come from me alone. They were products of dialogue with His Excellency. He decided what each local government needs. So, whoever wants to thank me for these projects should first thank Governor Uba Sani.”
He charged contractors handling the projects to deliver on time and to specification, urging the community to take ownership and protect the facilities.
On the 2027 general elections, the Speaker urged constituents to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure continuity of projects.
“Have we ever had a time when one zone attracted over 80 projects at once? Have we ever? If we want these projects to be completed and not abandoned halfway, the answer is on February 16, 2027. We must re-elect President Tinubu.
“The key to retaining the Speakership in this Zone is the re-election of President Tinubu,” he declared.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, APC leaders, women and youth groups, and residents who described the interventions as unprecedented in the history of the zone.
