Writing6th Annual Zikir of Zazzau Emirate Calls Muslims to Promote PeaceThe Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Malam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, has charged Muslims to uphold and demonstrate the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as a means of promoting peace and unity in society.The Emir made the call during the 6th Annual Zikir of the Zazzau Emirate, held as part of activities marking the Rabiyul-Awwal Islamic calendar and commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The event was organised by Fityanul Islam of Nigeria at the Zazzau Emir's Palace.Ambassador Malam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli said the annual Zikir provides an opportunity for Muslims to offer prayers and engage in various acts of worship, seeking the Almighty Allah's protection and guidance for the nation. He particularly called for divine intervention over the security challenges and insurgencies confronting the country.The Emir also appealed to wealthy individuals to assist less-privileged members of society, while urging citizens to remain obedient, law-abiding and respectful of constituted authorities. He commended Fityanul Islam of Nigeria for its efforts towards ensuring the success of the annual Zikir.Speaking on behalf of the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Barrister Tahir Umar Tahir, said the Governor has always supported programmes that promote prayers, peace and peaceful coexistence. He commended the Emir of Zazzau for establishing the annual forum to welcome the month of Rabiyul-Awwal and commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).Also speaking, the National Chairman of Fityanul Islam, Sheikh Arabi, commended the Emir of Zazzau, noting that the event had reached its sixth edition since the Emir ascended the throne. He explained that the purpose of the Zikir is to bring Muslims together for prayers, preaching and reflection on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), particularly ahead of the 12th of Rabiyul-Awwal.Various Islamic scholars from within and outside Nigeria delivered lectures on the exemplary character, teachings and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). They quoted verses from the Holy Qur'an and Hadith, urging leaders to be fair and just to their followers and to always remember the Day of Judgment, especially in view of the economic and social hardships facing the nation.The annual Zikir was attended by Islamic scholars and faithful from different parts of Nigeria, as well as representatives and scholars from Togo and other parts of the African continent.Our reporter, Mikail Ibrahim Fagachi, reports.
