A philanthropist, Umar Magaji Dan Aljannah, made the remark when he visited the management of Radio Nigeria Kaduna.
He expressed concern over the deteriorating state of the station, which was established by the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, and has played a significant role in the development of Northern Nigeria.
Umar Magaji Dan Aljannah said it was unacceptable to allow an institution with such a rich history and significant public service role to continue to decline.
He therefore called on leaders, stakeholders and other concerned individuals to take urgent steps towards restoring Radio Nigeria Kaduna to the respected position it once occupied.
The philanthropist also pledged to support the station through appropriate means, stressing the importance of preserving an institution with such a long-standing contribution to society.
He further advised the management to prioritise staff development by providing regular training for its personnel.
According to him, continuous training would equip staff with the necessary skills to uphold the vision, professionalism and standards upon which the station was established.
Responding, the Zonal Director of Radio Nigeria Kaduna, Aminu Abdullahi Gumbi, appreciated Umar Magaji Dan Aljannah for the visit and concern shown towards the station.
He said such visits were important as they provided an opportunity for individuals and stakeholders to understand the current condition of the station and the challenges confronting it.
Aminu Abdullahi Gumbi emphasised the need to restore Radio Nigeria Kaduna to its former respected position, particularly its role in public enlightenment, education and entertainment.
