The Rector of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi, has urged newly admitted students to regard their matriculation as the beginning of a purposeful academic journey that will shape their future.
Speaking during the institution's matriculation ceremony, the Rector described the occasion as a significant milestone in the lives of the students, reminding them that they had formally pledged to abide by the rules and regulations of the Polytechnic.
He encouraged the students to remain committed to good conduct, diligence and discipline throughout their academic programme, assuring them that they would eventually reap the rewards of their hard work and exemplary character.
Dr. Abdullahi further advised the students to make effective use of the learning facilities provided by the institution, stressing that Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic has made adequate academic and practical resources available to support their studies. He noted that the Polytechnic operates an established administrative system which students must respect and obey for their own benefit.
The Rector appreciated parents and guardians for their continued support and confidence in the institution. He also expressed gratitude to the Kaduna State Government and the Kaduna State Ministry of Education for their sustained assistance to the Polytechnic.
He particularly commended the Governor of Kaduna State for approving the recruitment of additional staff, providing funds for the accreditation of existing programmes, supporting the introduction of new academic programmes, and ensuring the prompt payment of staff salaries. He urged the students to serve as worthy ambassadors of the institution wherever they find themselves.
Earlier, the Deputy Rector (Administration), Arc. Dr. Isah Adam Abdullahi, welcomed the Commissioner for Education's representative, officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and other distinguished guests to the ceremony.
He reminded the newly admitted students of their responsibility to obey the institution's rules and academic regulations. He encouraged them to take advantage of the various vocational and entrepreneurial opportunities available in the Polytechnic and to make proper use of the institution's laboratories for practical learning.
The Deputy Rector also warned the students against examination malpractice, cultism, and all forms of misconduct, urging them to respect and obey their lecturers. He thanked the Kaduna State Government for providing teaching and learning facilities that continue to improve academic activities in the Polytechnic.
As part of the ceremony, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Barrister Abdullahi Zubairu Abdullahi, introduced the Deans of the various schools and faculties, who subsequently administered the matriculation oath to the newly admitted students.
Representing the Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, the Director of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education, Abdulhamid Ahmed, congratulated the Polytechnic on the successful organisation of the matriculation ceremony.
He commended the management and staff of the institution for their commitment to providing quality education and practical skills to students. He advised the matriculating students to make the best use of the opportunity offered to them by acquiring both academic knowledge and vocational skills that would prepare them for productive lives after graduation.
He also encouraged the students to strive for academic excellence and uphold the good image of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic by serving as responsible ambassadors of the institution.
