Nigerian youths have been advised to focus on acquiring both Islamic and Western education, as well as learning vocational skills and trades to become productive members of society.

The Chairman of the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Aliyu Shehu Charity Foundation, Alhaji Aliyu Shehu Nuhu, gave the advice when the Zaria Grassroots Soccer Development Association organised a friendly football match between Nasara FC and Golden City FC in Zaria.

Alhaji Aliyu Shehu Nuhu said young people have a lot to contribute to national development, particularly through sports activities.

He noted that football has become an avenue for investment and wealth creation.

Nuhu added that those who have the opportunity should make it a priority to support their communities, especially the youth and the less privileged.

Also speaking to journalists, the former Governor of Kaduna State and Dallatun Zazzau, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, described youths as the foundation of community and national development.

Dr. Yero urged young people to avoid drug abuse and focus on acquiring education, learning trades, and developing skills to enable them to face global challenges.

Similarly, the Danruwatan Zazzau, Alhaji Bello Shehu Idris, advised youths to be diligent in pursuing education and learning trades, especially by taking advantage of online opportunities.

The friendly match between Nasara FC and Golden City FC ended 1-1 in regulation time. However, Nasara FC won the penalty shootout 3-0 after Golden City FC missed all three of their penalty kicks.

The match, organised by the Zaria Grassroots Soccer Development Association under the leadership of Wakilin Wasannin Zazzau, Alhaji Aminu Germus, ended peacefully.
