The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General W. Shaibu, has commended the 89th Regular Recruits Intake of the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria, for their discipline, resilience, and commitment throughout their months of rigorous military training.

Speaking during the Passing Out Parade (POP) held at the Depot Nigerian Army Parade Ground in Zaria, the COAS described the event as “a milestone achievement and a major boost to the Army’s manpower expansion strategy.” He congratulated the recruits for successfully completing their basic military training, which he said marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of sacrifice, patriotism, and service to the nation.

“You are joining the Nigerian Army at a critical moment in our history when our country is faced with diverse security threats. You must take pride in being part of the solution to the challenges of terrorism and insurgency,” he said.

He urged the new soldiers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and integrity in discharging their duties, stressing that their training at Depot NA has prepared them to meet the demands of modern military operations.

General Shaibu emphasized that the Nigerian Army’s transformation agenda aims to create “a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilient force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.”

While commending the Commandant of Depot NA, Major General Ahmadu Bello Muhammad, and his team of instructors for their dedication, he noted that the establishment of additional depots in Osogbo and Abakaliki will further strengthen the Army’s recruitment and training capacity across Nigeria.

The COAS appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his strategic guidance and continued support to the military. He also thanked the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, and the people of Zaria for their hospitality and cooperation with the Nigerian Army.

General Shaibu concluded by congratulating the families of the passing-out recruits for their patience and support, urging the new soldiers to remain courageous and uphold the values of loyalty, discipline, and selfless service.
