The Arewa Youth Trust Foundation (AYTF) has announced three new thematic priorities for the year 2026 as part of its renewed strategic direction, following its annual review meeting held at the Foundation’s headquarters in Kaduna State.

The newly adopted focus areas are:
Tax and Economic Justice, Gender-Based Violence (Protection and Inclusion) and Climate Resilience and Environmental Sustainability

Speaking shortly after the meeting, the Team Leader of the Foundation, ASC1 Fahad Chikaji Ahmed, BSc, MSc, PhD, MNCS, MCPN, MICPA, Doctor of Excellence, and Kaduna State Gender Ambassador, said the decision aligns with AYTF’s mission to respond to the most pressing socio-economic and environmental challenges facing Northern Nigeria and beyond.

Dr. Fahad noted that the selected thematic areas are designed to strengthen youth engagement in governance, promote social and economic justice, enhance community protection systems, and foster environmental resilience through sustainable practices.

> “Our focus for 2026 reflects our continued dedication to empowering young people, supporting justice, and building communities that are safer, more inclusive, and environmentally conscious,” he said.

He added that the new strategy also aims to improve collaboration with government agencies, development partners, and grassroots organizations to achieve measurable community impact across the region.

The announcement coincided with a celebration organised by members of the Foundation to honour Dr. Fahad Chikaji Ahmed following his successful completion of a PhD in Development Communication.

During the event, members of the Foundation described Dr. Fahad’s leadership as inspiring and transformational, acknowledging his consistent dedication to humanitarian service and youth empowerment.

The Communications Officer, Hajiya Aisha Salahuddeen, described him as “a leader with a rare vision and compassion,” commending his commitment to supporting the less privileged and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

Similarly, the Foundation’s Editor, Hajiya Rukayyah Mohammed, praised his courage and determination, calling him “one in a million,” whose contributions to uplifting vulnerable groups are worthy of emulation.

The Foundation’s Photographer, Mr. Kayode, also expressed appreciation, noting that he had learned greatly under Dr. Fahad’s mentorship, describing him as “humble, prayerful, and a unifier with an unwavering sense of purpose.”

The Arewa Youth Trust Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment, good governance, social justice, and sustainable development, pledging to continue driving positive change across Northern Nigeria and the country at large.
