Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has reaffirmed the state government's commitment to the successful delivery of the Kaduna Light Rail Project following a high-level meeting with a Federal Government delegation and key project stakeholders.

The delegation, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi, included representatives of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and the project contractor, Mota-Engil.
The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to review progress and strengthen collaboration ahead of the commencement of the landmark transportation project.

Speaking during the meeting, Governor Uba Sani expressed delight at hosting the delegation, describing the engagement as a significant step toward the realization of a modern and efficient transportation system for Kaduna State.

According to the Governor, the meeting provided an opportunity for stakeholders to harmonize their efforts, assess progress made so far, and align on critical next steps necessary for the successful implementation of the project.

Governor Uba Sani noted that the updates presented by the Federal Government team were encouraging and reflected a strong commitment by all parties to transform transportation infrastructure in Kaduna State.
As part of their visit, members of the delegation conducted a reconnaissance tour of the project site to assess developments on the ground and gain firsthand insight into preparations for the project's implementation.

The Governor expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for infrastructure development across Nigeria.

He particularly commended the President for approving the N1 trillion funding for the 50-kilometre Kaduna Light Rail Project, describing the intervention as a major milestone in the state's development agenda.

Governor Uba Sani also acknowledged the President's commitment to ensuring the swift mobilization of contractors and project teams, which has accelerated preparations for the project's commencement.

He further revealed that the visit by the Federal Government delegation signals the readiness of stakeholders for the groundbreaking ceremony, which is expected to take place within the next month.

The Governor stated that Kaduna State remains honoured to serve as the pilot state for the historic rail project, a development he said reinforces the state's reputation as a leader in transportation innovation and urban development in Nigeria.

He also appreciated the recognition given by the delegation to the Kaduna State Government for its cooperation and dedication throughout the planning process.

Governor Uba Sani assured residents that the state government, in partnership with the Federal Government and Mota-Engil, remains fully committed to delivering the light rail project, which is expected to boost economic activities, improve urban mobility, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life for citizens.

The Kaduna Light Rail Project is one of the largest urban transportation initiatives in Nigeria and is expected to significantly transform public transportation within the state upon completion.
