Foundation Promotes Women’s Islamic Education, Graduates 40 in Zaria

The Marafan Yamman Zazzau, who represented the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has commended the Ummul Mu’mineen Hafsat Bint Umar Bin Khaddab Foundation for promoting Islamic education among married women and children in the community.

Speaking during a walima ceremony organised to celebrate the graduation of 40 married women who completed Qur’anic recitation training (sauka) in Zaria, the royal representative described the initiative as a significant contribution to moral and religious development in society.

He emphasised that Islam encourages the pursuit of knowledge for both men and women, stressing that educating women strengthens families and promotes peaceful coexistence within communities. He urged the graduands to remain committed to practising the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and to serve as ambassadors of good character and religious discipline in their homes and society. He also conveyed the Emir’s appreciation to the school management and encouraged community members to continue supporting institutions dedicated to religious and vocational education.

Earlier in his address, the Head of the School, Malam Umar Abdussalam, expressed gratitude to Allah for the successful completion of the training programme. He explained that the foundation was established to promote Islamic knowledge and provide moral guidance as well as vocational empowerment to members of the community.

He highlighted the school’s key objectives, which include teaching married women and children the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and helping them understand its meanings, sponsoring and supporting orphans within the community, and providing vocational skills training for women and youths to promote self-reliance. He added that the foundation also focuses on moral upbringing aimed at building responsible homes and society, assisting the needy and the sick, and promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among women.

Malam Umar stated that the graduating women underwent intensive lessons in Qur’anic recitation, memorisation, and interpretation of Islamic teachings. He advised them to sustain regular revision of the Qur’an and to reflect its teachings in their daily lives. He further called on families and guardians to support women’s education, noting that an educated woman plays a critical role in building responsible families and a morally upright society.

The ceremony featured Qur’anic recitations by the graduates, presentation of certificates, and special prayers for peace, unity, and continued progress in the Zazzau Emirate and Nigeria as a whole.

The Ummul Mu’mineen Hafsat Bint Umar Bin Khaddab Foundation is widely recognised for its commitment to promoting Qur’anic education, empowering women and youths through vocational training, supporting orphans and the less privileged, and strengthening moral and religious values within the community.
