Governor Uba Sani has announced the renaming of the Centre for Qur’anic Science Education at Kaduna State University after renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, in recognition of his lifelong contribution to Islamic education and scholarship.
The governor made the announcement in Zaria during a Maulud celebration commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), organised by the Kaduna State chapter of Fityanul Islam under the leadership of Sheikh Rabi’u Abdullahi Zaria.
Speaking at the event, Governor Uba Sani said the decision to name the centre Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Centre for Qur’anic Science Education, Kaduna State University was informed by the cleric’s immense impact on Qur’anic learning, Islamic propagation and moral upbringing across Kaduna State and beyond. He noted that Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s teachings and institutions have produced generations of scholars and contributed significantly to peaceful coexistence and intellectual development in the state.
The governor also commended Islamic scholars and religious leaders for their sustained efforts in promoting education, moral discipline and social harmony. According to him, clerics remain critical partners in the drive to build a peaceful and enlightened society, adding that his administration would continue to support initiatives that advance both Western and Islamic education.
A member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Zaria City Constituency praised the governor for honouring Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, describing the gesture as a fitting recognition of a scholar whose influence transcends generations. He said the naming of the centre would inspire students and reinforce the importance of Qur’anic studies within the formal education system.
In his goodwill message, the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, represented by Dan Gori Goriban Zazzau, Alhaji Muhammad Aminu, commended the Fityanul Islam organisation for its consistent efforts in promoting Islamic teachings and moral values. He also praised Islamic scholars for their dedication to teaching and guiding the community at all times, noting that their continuous commitment to religious education has played a vital role in nurturing discipline, unity, and spiritual growth among the people.
