The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, has commissioned a Primary Healthcare Centre and flagged off three projects in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The projects are the Saminaka Junction to Central Primary School road, a National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) study centre, and a block of 10 classrooms with offices and toilets.
The Speaker said 10 projects have been earmarked for Ikara and 8l10 for Kubau, bringing the total to between 20 projects for the Ikara-Kubau Federal Constituency in the current phase, with more to be included in the 2027 budget.
Speaking in Ikara, he said the projects are designed to save time, expand access to education and healthcare, and support the local economy.
He said the Saminaka road will ease movement for pupils, teachers and traders, especially during the rainy season, improve safety and reduce vehicle maintenance costs.
Abbas Tajuddeen urged the contractor to ensure quality work, proper drainage and durable materials.
On education, he said the 10 classrooms will provide a better learning environment, while the offices and toilets will support school administration and improve sanitation and attendance.
The NOUN centre, he said, will enable residents to pursue higher education while continuing farming and family responsibilities by bringing registration, tutorials and examinations closer to the people.
He noted that the centre will also help farmers, teachers, public servants and entrepreneurs acquire skills in business, finance and technology, relevant to Ikara's economy which is driven by groundnut and cotton farming.
According to him, the health centre will provide maternal care, immunization, treatment of common illnesses and referral services.
Speaker Abbas commended Governor Uba Sani for inclusive development and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for increasing fiscal capacity for states and local councils.
He urged residents to supervise the projects and protect public facilities, and to judge candidates by competence and performance.
He also appealed for support for APC candidates in the federal and state assembly elections, as well as for President Tinubu and Governor Sani in the 2027 elections, citing ongoing reforms and the establishment of four new federal universities in Kaduna State.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, urged the people of Ikara to vote en masse for all APC candidates.
The ceremony was attended by former Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, APC candidates for the Ikara-Kubau Federal Constituency, party stakeholders, youth groups and other dignitaries.
